A work of art on the gable

When the wall tells stories

What motifs are hiding in the painting

The painting contains small stories and symbols from the city’s life, nature and culture – all woven into colors and shapes.

Blades of grass – traces of small hands

Local children have left their fingerprints on the work – a symbol of the city’s future and community. Small brushstrokes, big stories.

King on the edge

An image of innocence and responsibility, inspired by the story of kingship. A reminder that strength and vulnerability go hand in hand.

Murder in the night and Jutlandic Law

A motif that reminds us that Viborg was the center of law, faith and drama. The circle symbolizes the eternal cycle of justice.

Hidden symbols

Small details reveal themselves only to the observant eye – a celebration of the city’s sporting life, community and local pride.

Jacob’s skull

A symbol of faith, hope and wandering. A nod to the pilgrims who throughout time sought meaning and homecoming through Viborg.

Hans Tausen

The voice of the Reformation in Viborg – an image of the courage to change and create something new, without forgetting your roots.

The meeting point on Hærvejen

A motif of gathering and movement. Viborg as a hub for people, thoughts and beliefs over the centuries.

Skald – the beer that laughed

A humorous tribute to the city’s proud brewing tradition. A reminder of the joy of life, community and good stories over a glass.

In the shadow of the flames

The city’s strength is shown in its ability to rise up. Each fire left wounds, but also fertile ground for rebirth and renewed community.

The building & the artist

Kristian Vodder Svensson is a Danish artist known for his strong visual universe where nature’s organic forms and figurations merge into magnificent wall decorations and paintings. With a penchant for colorful and floral compositions, he manages to create works that both tell stories and capture moments – big and small.

In his work with the new gable mural, Kristian has continued this signature: where concrete wall meets landscape and architecture becomes canvas, he has let the motif grow from the building and up towards the sky. Every brushstroke, every line and every nuance is deliberately chosen to connect place and narrative, city and history.

Based on the unique context of the site, Kristian has created the work as a visual journey through the ages – from its roots in nature to contemporary urban life. It’s not just a painting on a wall, but a canvas for local identity and community.

For you, this means that the artwork in collaboration with Kristian is not a random decoration, but a grounded and considered expression of the meaning of the place, its history and its future. A narrative that grows with the building’s structure and invites you to immerse yourself – time and time again.

The building and the context

PEAK 12 is a striking and modern building in Viborg that houses a hotel, housing and business. The decoration is placed on the building’s east-facing facade in smooth concrete – a wall that is visible from large parts of the city.
The area around the building has historical significance: formerly known as Biskoptoften, the area has been a meeting point for trade, religion, military, culture and royal tributes.
The artwork contributes to creating life and identity in the urban space that connects Viborg’s historic center with the stadium area.
